RBL Update 10/26/07
Please send us your RBL pictures and stories to update our website. They can be e-mailed to galazan@msn.com. We would love to hear from you.
We have attempted to answer some of the most frequently asked questions we have received and included a few random pictures for people who are curious and waiting for their guns.
| When will my gun be ready? - We are currently working on orders placed in January 2006. When we finish the January orders, the rest of the ordering months are no where near as heavy and we are planning to have all of the guns delivered just after the first of the year. All of the orders are taken as they were received. It is very possible that someone that ordered their gun after you could receive their gun before you. This is very possible, guns are sometimes stopped because of wood quality, blemishes, it does not pass inspection, many reasons. We are really trying to produce the best product for our customers. | |||
| I haven't heard anything about my RBL on order - We are a small company, without the normal structure of

| Important Choke Tube Information - 1. Use the choke tube wrench provided. Make sure it is fully bottomed out, but not over tightened. 2. After each day of shooting, on the same day, the choke tubes need to be removed and cleaned. Make sure that they have not been damaged by being dropped or burred. The inside of the barrels need to be cleaned also, pay particular attention to the counterbore and thread location for the choke tube. 3. Prior to assembly apply a VERY small amount of grease to the thread of the choke tube, leaving no surplus grease in the barrel. ALWAYS INSPECT YOUR CHOKE TUBES FOR SIGNS OF DAMAGE OR WEAR |
|||
| Wood Flaws - Highly figured pieces of wood sometimes have blemishes, checks, or inclusions that require filling and this happens on all high grade pieces of wood used on any gun. | |||
| Forend Chip - When installing the forend on the gun, especially without the barrel being mounted to the receiver, great care must be taken not to chip the corners out.
(see picture) |
|||
| Wood Quality - We spend a lot of time grading the pieces of wood after they are made into a gunstock so that we can truly see the quality of wood. Three people independently grade each wood stock for quality to make sure that the customer receives the quality of wood ordered and all three inspectors must concur that the wood is the proper grade that the customer ordered. We also buy the wood in the same grade in the blank form which also helps in grading the final end product. | |||
| Why does my forend look different than my butt stock? - Forend wood is a especially selected to be very straight grained. Forend wood in some areas is very thin, this is true on all ejector guns. Overtime in wood that has any deviations in the grain flow, such as figure are more susceptible to developing hairline cracks that become larger cracks. This is the reason why the highly figured pieces are used for the butt and we look for perfectly straight, structurally sound pieces for the forend. This is true on the RBL and all of the other guns we manufacture. | |||
| Wood finish - The wood finish on the RBL is oil. We are currently shipping the guns with a low luster, English type rubbed finish with an alkanet tone. This finish could be buffed to a higher sheen or if you would like to add more finish you can use our Best Oil Stock Finish or Tru-Oil. | |||
| Do not clean wood with solvents - It is an oil finish and if by chance you use a harsh solvent, you can easily buff the finish back with some rubbing compound and add some more finish with some Tru-Oil or our Best Oil Stock Finish. | Forend won't go on - You must make sure the ejector hammers are all the way back, if not you will need to push them back, carefully to not break the forend. | ||
| My straight grip trigger guard seems to be below the wood - That's the way the gun is made, there are no visible screws holding the trigger guard it is held in place in the back tang and it need to be inletted deeper in the wood. Most guns sold at this price have short tang trigger guards for the economy of the gun. | Engraving - There are a number of techniques used in engraving the RBL. The guns are exactly as the prototypes with some minor variations on the barrels but virtually the same. It was designed by Richard Roy, one of our Master Engravers, and is exactly like the original plates that he had initially engraved. | ||
| Case Coloring - It is done in the traditional bone and charcoal method as all of our guns are, and the case coloring is not an exact science, some are more blue, some are more green, etc. | Butt Plate - The butt plate is not plastic but is actually made from a resin similar to a bowling ball. This is not an inexpensive, cheap plastic part. | ||
| Bluing - All RBL barrels are blued in the traditional method of rust bluing. On case colored guns, furniture (trigger guard, top lever, etc.) is blued with a special black oxide process. | Case - This is our high quality canvas case that we offer in our catalog with stitching that goes through the leather corners and into the wood and have real wool felt interior. All of the accessories are the same high quality accessories that are in our catalog and have been tested over many years. | ||
| Alterations - We do not offer any type of gunsmitthing on these guns. No recoil pads, no stock bending, nothing. The reason we do not do this is we are trying to standardize it to keep the cost of the gun in line. | SST setup - It operates on an inertia system and the gun needs the recoil of the first shot to set up the second barrel. | ||
| How do I change choke tubes? - The gun is supplied with a friction wrench. Press down firmly and turn, when installing make sure they are seated all the way down and flush with the barrel. The gun comes with 5 choke tubes, 3 in the pouch and 2 in the gun. Make sure that you remove the tubes that are in the gun before trying to install new tubes. There are no notches in the tubes making them hard to see. |
|
Extra Choke Tubes - We will have them available in our product catalog shortly as well as other replacement parts for the RBL. The choke tubes are proprietary to us for use in this particular gun and are not available anywhere else. | |
| Parts - We have manufactured thousands of parts and are planning to support this gun for many years. If anything should arises we would like to take care of it immediately. | Can I get another set of different gauge barrels? - There are no other barrel sets available, except the 20 ga. 28" that is offered with the gun. | ||
| How many RBL's will be made? - We do not make that information available but this is a very limited production gun that should have strong collector appeal. | How many guns ship each day, week, month, etc. - We do not make this information available on the RBL or any of our guns. The amount of guns that ship on a daily basis has doubled in the past 60 days and we anticipate to do the same again over the next 60 days. I feel the quality of the guns are very high and better than ever even though we are shipping more and more. | ||
| Can I still order if I pay in full? No, the RBL Launch Edition is sold out. We are starting a waiting list, and we will know at the end of the run if there are any guns available. | Warranty - The gun comes with a six month warranty but if there are any problems and you are beyond the six months we will support the product as we do with anything else we handle. | ||
| Next gun features - We have not publicly announced any other configurations of the RBL. | Returns - Anything that needs to come back to us, please send back pre-paid and we will replace, refund, or repair. | ||
